"Launching Out" - a fine art original painting, unframed
I got to watch an unfolding drama in a mountain stream on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park one day. This mother moose and her calf had waded in to the stream; she crossed to the other side to graze on the lush green grass there. The calf tried to cross and turned back. (The water came up high on his neck.) But he didn't like being separated from his mother, so he tried again. When he got to the opposite bank it was too steep for him to climb out. His mom came down into the stream to lick him off (see "It's Okay") and then sent him on his way, following closely behind him. It was quite the scene - and I was lucky enough to see it all.
